Arkema has completed the expansion of PVDF production capacity in North America, and the Changshu base expansion plan is progressing simultaneously

Arkema has recently completed capacity expansion in North America to meet the market demand for polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) materials. It is reported that the production line of the company located in Calvert, Kentucky, USA has been upgraded and renovated, with a capacity increase of 15% compared to before. The investment amount for this project is approximately 20 million US dollars, and it will be launched in February 2025. It has been delivered and put into use as planned.
In the fluorine chemical industry chain, PVDF, as an important high-performance material, continues to expand its application fields. With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry, the demand for lithium-ion battery materials in electric vehicles and energy storage systems is steadily increasing. At the same time, the accelerated pace of data center infrastructure construction has also driven an increase in demand for related cable materials. In addition, the expansion of the semiconductor industry has also created new market space for PVDF materials.
To better serve the Asia Pacific market, Arkema signed an investment agreement with Changshu New Materials Industrial Park on June 10th. According to the agreement, the company will implement a PVDF production capacity enhancement project at its Changshu production base, with a planned increase of 20%, expected to be completed and put into operation by 2028. This project will focus on application areas such as new energy, semiconductors, and water treatment.
At present, Arkema has established a complete production network layout in North America, Europe, and Asia. Industry insiders point out that this globalized capacity allocation helps companies better respond to changes in market demand in different regions and provide continuous and stable material supply guarantees for downstream customers.
