What makes water-based coatings so popular in Europe and the US?
Anyone who has been to Ukraine knows that their building walls are basically painted with various colors. Ukraine is a country with a paranoid love for colors, and it is the colors that keep the country more mysterious and attractive.

Harmless to human beings, not pollute the environment, the paint film is rich, crystal clear, good flexibility, and has water resistance, wear resistance, aging resistance, yellowing resistance, fast drying, easy to use and other characteristics, so that water-based coatings in Europe and the United States is very popular, can be used in wood, metal, plastic, glass, building surfaces and other materials, but water-based coatings construction performance is poor, immature production technology, the use of additives differences, but also in urgent need of improvement.
Water-based wax additives are important additives for water-based coatings, providing wear resistance, anti-stick, anti-scratch, anti-sink, hydrophobic, polishing, etc. Common raw materials include polyethylene wax, paraffin wax, Fischer-Tropsch wax, PTFE wax, etc., which can be used alone or in combination.
Effect of wax emulsion on scratch resistance of paint film
The application of wax emulsions to water-based coating systems can largely improve the re-stick and scratch resistance of the paint film. Various experiments have shown that the surface of the paint film without wax emulsion is easier to be scratched, while the scratching force of the paint film surface is improved after adding different wax emulsions with the same external force. Among them, the large particles of the dispersion play a crucial role in resisting the damage of the paint film by the external force.
Influence of wax emulsion on the waterproof performance of paint film
Wax emulsion LW-102 is an environmentally friendly wax additive, free of formaldehyde, APEO, heavy metals, organohalogenated AOX, VOC, etc. It is suitable as an efficient surface water repellent in water-based coating and can significantly reduce the surface tension of the coating film. It can migrate to the surface of the coating film to form a protective film during the drying process of the coating film, producing a good water splashing effect.
The effect of wax emulsion on the gloss of paint film
When wax emulsion is added to water-based coatings, the wax particles are evenly dispersed in the system, and after construction, the wax particles distributed on the surface of the paint film will have an effect on the gloss of the paint film after surface drying. Different types of wax emulsions have different particle sizes and distributions, and when exposed to light, they produce different degrees of diffuse reflection and thus have different effects on the gloss of the paint film.
Wax emulsion matting is beneficial for the preparation of semi-gloss or matte lacquer, not only can improve the scratch resistance and anti-back stickiness of the film, but also can reduce the amount of matting agent, in the deployment of semi-gloss water-based wood paint without matting agent, the addition of wax emulsion alone can achieve the desired matting effect.
