Ministry of Ecology and Environment: "Screening, evaluation and control" and "prohibition, reduction and treatment" are the key measures to control new pollutants.
Thousands of new chemical substances are added every year in China, and the number of new pollutants that may be identified will continue to increase. The treatment of new pollutants is an inevitable result of the deepening of the battle against pollution. Ren Yong, director of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment's department of solid waste and chemicals, said at a press conference on March 30 that the first step is to "screen" and "evaluate" key new pollutants, and then implement whole-process control of key new pollutants.
